Hotel bed making tips
To make a hotel bed with luxurious finishes you need to read below.
When it comes to setting up the perfect ambiance for your hotel guests, hotel rooms themselves are supremely important.
And in these hotel rooms, your beds are probably one of the most important factors in a guest’s decision of how nice your hotel is.
Think about it – if you have a beautiful and elegant hotel, but your beds are uncomfortable and poorly made, that completely detracts from the customer experience.
Here are our hotel bed making tips to help you make the best impact on guests from their first glance at the bed to when they’re lying down and cozying up.
Set-Up Essentials
Before we get into the steps of how to make the bed, first let’s discuss what materials you may need for the most comfortable, most elegant-looking bed. It’s all about creating a cozy atmosphere that makes the guest feel like they will rest well in your rooms. Getting some shuteye is, after all, the goal of staying at a hotel.
Make a Better Impact with the Right Color
Scheme
In the hotel industry, the color that resonates with luxury is white. This is because the color white has been historically used to represent optimal cleanliness, something that once was only available to the wealthy. Therefore, when selecting your linens and bedding, it may be wise to select white linens.
Create the Right Atmosphere with Warm Lighting
Warm lighting, aka dimmed, indirect light with a Kelvin temperature at 2700 or less, makes your hotel room look cozier. This is because it is more soothing on the eyes as opposed to bulbs that produce a sunlight effect.
Make Sure You are Using High-Quality, Comfortable Mattress Pads
The purpose of a mattress pad, a material to be placed between your mattress and fitted sheet, is to provide comfort to the guest but also to protect your mattress from any potential spills. While the latter is incredibly important to maintain the cleanliness of your hotel, it’s just as important to make sure the mattress pads that you are using are comfortable.
Hotel Bed Making Steps
While you can have the right supplies (elegant white linens, warm lighting, and comfortable mattress pads), knowing how to best set up your linens is essential to impress the guest and help improve their night of sleep.
Here are our steps for hotel bed making:
1. Make sure you have all your clean pillowcases, sheets, covers, etc.
One easy way to make sure that you always have clean linens in stock is to rent your linens through a quality hotel linen rental program.
2. Make sure there is no dirt or dust on the mattress.
Simply dust off and vacuum away any debris.
3. Place your mattress pad on top of your mattress.
Once you’ve cleaned off your mattress, simply place this on top so it fits your mattress.
4. Put on the fitted bottom sheet.
This sheet will be used to hold your mattress pad in place.
5. Lay down your flat sheet.
Lay this sheet down, making sure there are no wrinkles.
6. Place the cover on the bed.
Smooth out any wrinkles so that it appears nice, flat, and elegant on your bedspread. Then pull back the top ¼ of the cover and flat sheet for a nice display.
7. Fold in all of the corners.
This will create that snug, burrito-like effect that guests get when they crawl into a hotel bed.
8. Place pillows in their corresponding pillowcases, fluff, and then flatten to stand tall.
If you have any accent pillows, give them a good karate chop to add some differentiation between your pillow setup. And voila! You have a beautifully-made hotel bed.
Invest in Your Bedding and Linens
It’s essential that your bedding and linens are high-quality, properly maintained, and have been professionally cleaned.
